Don’t you just love it when you go to a show and you can totally switch off for a few hours? Well if you get a chance to see the Wedding Singer this week at Belfast’s Grand Opera House you’ll do just that!

An action packed few hours of singing, dancing, hilarious jokes, downright randomness and a few rude bits and by the end of the night the cast had the audience on their feet.

Made famous by the movie of the same name which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, The Wedding Singer follows hopeless romantics, Julia (Cassie Compton) and Robbie (Jon Robyns) through their very eventful relationships – with other people!

Set it the 80s means the retro clothing, crazy hair and iconic characters from the decade are all in there – who doesn’t love Wonder Woman and Billy Idol on the same stage!

The comic timing from Ruth Madoc, who’s best known for her performance in Hi-de-Hi was brilliant, as was the other cast members who aren’t so well-known, but have a wealth of performance experience. Ray Quinn from X Factor fame does a great job playing the cheating, money grabbing boyfriend of Julia.

You don’t need to have watched the movie to enjoy this stage show. It’s definitely one to grab the girls, switch off and enjoy. The trailer wants you to party like it’s 1985 and you’ll definitely will do that-big hair and shoulder pads optional!

The Wedding Singer is running until Saturday 15 April. Ring the box office for tickets 90241919
