When a friend invites you to an event for Kate Halfpenny’s latest bridal collection and walking in you tell her ‘You know I hate wedding dresses?’, needless to say she fears the worst. However, after a chat with stylist supremo Kate, and then viewing her showstoppers, I nearly begged her to measure me up there and then!

Kate, who counts Kate Moss, Erin O’Connor and Emilia Fox among her girl squad is a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world. Having a successful early career styling fashion shoots, she got into the wedding market in 2005 and hasn’t looked back.

Her whimsical and floaty pieces are perfect for brides who don’t want a ‘traditional’ wedding dress, and as most women don’t have a model figure, she has created styles to suit a variety of shapes and sizes.

Based in London, Kate’s studio is ‘like a front room’ and she’s happy with the relaxed attitude she has created. I love a trip to London as much as the next person, but being able to pick up one of Kate’s pieces locally is definitely good for me, especially when saving for a wedding! Thankfully The White Gallery in Warrenpoint is the exclusive stockist in Ireland for Kate’s pieces and somewhat of a hidden gem itself. It stocks pieces for brides who want to push the boundaries in fashion and has a select range of stylish gowns to ensure every bride finds something to suit their own style.

Although Kate stole my heart (and yes, I am Insta-stalking her flat out!) other designers showcased at the event included Rime Arodaky, Laure de Sagazan, Idan Cohen and Rue De Seine, all exclusive to The White Gallery and all with their own unique style. I can’t wait until my big day rolls around so in the words of the hit TV show, I can say ‘Yes’ to the dress!
